One of the most popular Brisbane hotels with function rooms spread out over the three levels of the hotel, much of the focus is on the middle level's award-winning bistro which is open for lunch and dinner six days a week.
Head Chef David Blackman serves up fresh, seasonal gastronomic pub food complimented by an impressive selection of fine wines and craft beers. Each level offers something different, from discerning diners to a casual place to share a drink with friends or a more intimate setting to enjoy a cocktail - there’s a space to suit everyone - with all levels and spaces available for private bookings (subject to availability).
Established in 1864 to service the local area and accommodate Queensland’s economic boom at the time, the pub has seen a variation on themes and over 150 years of stories and historic tales, while the building itself - the building we see today - was built in 1888 and has been preserved with its original charm intact both inside and out, making it ideal for all private and corporate functions held in Brisbane.
While The Alliance Hotel is today renowned for its superlative dining experiences, great wine and beer selection, intimate settings and versatile, unique function spaces, it's long been well-known for its colourful past and history of being a bit 'left-of-centre'. In 1878 the original licensee of The Alliance Hotel, Charles Zachariah Bertheau, produced Australia's first absinthe. In the 1890's and into the early 1900's, to be approved for a liquor licence, you needed to provide accommodation (now our Leichhardt Room) and also stalls for patrons horses, evident from the original brickwork and archways in our Chalet Bar.

We proudly work with local suppliers to create menus that showcase the incredible produce we have available to us. From the moment you walk in it feels like you're a local - whether a first-timer or regular patron, you'll have a great time every time!
